Chat Rails
Savings coordination where the conversation already happens.
Most community savings groups already run in a chat thread. Chat Rails is the ACH concept for connecting that conversation to the group's records, so what is agreed in chat and what is recorded on ACH stay in step.
Status
Chat Rails is in development. It is not live, there is nothing to connect yet, and no group data is being sent to any messaging service today. This page describes intent, not a capability you can use.
Meet groups where they are
Coordination continues in the group's existing chat rather than forcing everyone into a new app.
One shared record
What the group agrees stays connected to the cycle, slots and contribution records held on ACH.
Coordinator relief
Less repeating the same answers about who has contributed and whose turn is next.
Boundaries
What Chat Rails will not do.
The non-custodial principle applies here as everywhere else on ACH.
- It will not hold, move or release money.
- It will not approve or guarantee a contribution on a member's behalf.
- It will not replace the coordinator's decisions or the group's agreement.
- It will not make group information visible outside the group.
